Questions
Asked, and answered plainly.
What PlotSpring does with your writing, what you can write, and how the AI and the plans work.
Your writing
What you write stays yours.
- Can the AI write my book for me?
- No. PlotSpring is a writing tool first. The AI rewrites, reads and answers questions about what you wrote. Anything it writes lands as a new version beside yours, and your version is always one step back.
- Is my writing used to train AI?
- No. Not on any plan, ever.
- Will I lose earlier drafts?
- No. Every paragraph keeps its whole history. Nothing you write is thrown away.
- Can I bring in a manuscript I already have?
- Yes. Import .md, .txt or .epub, and export any book to Markdown whenever you like.
What you can write
Write what you want to write.
- Are there limits on what I can write?
- PlotSpring doesn't police your fiction. Romance, violence, dark themes, explicit scenes — if the First Amendment protects it, you can write it here. The only things we won't touch are the things the law doesn't protect.
- What if one of the editors declines a passage?
- Some of the AI models behind PlotSpring's editors come with their own content rules. If an editor declines or waters down a passage, switch to editors with no content restrictions in Settings, and every AI feature will use them from then on.
- Are you publishing what I write?
- No. Nothing you write is published. A share link is a private way to send a chapter to someone for feedback, or to another tool, and only people you give the link to can open it.
Privacy
Where your words go.
- Where is my writing stored?
- On Desk, in your browser on this device only. On a paid plan, on your device and synced to your account, so you can pick up on any device.
- Who can read it?
- Only you, and anyone you send a share link to.
- When does my text go to an AI model?
- Only for AI features, and only the text that feature needs. The AI providers don't keep your prose after answering.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. You can write without a connection; a paid plan syncs when you're back online.
- Does it work on a phone or tablet?
- Yes. PlotSpring runs in the browser on desktop, tablet and phone, and can be installed like an app.
Plans and credits
How the plans work.
- Is there a free plan?
- Yes. Desk is free: the whole writing tool, on this device, for up to three books. It doesn't include AI or sync.
- What is a credit?
- Your weekly AI allowance is counted in credits. Each AI action draws from it according to the work it actually took. Before a big scan, the desk tells you what it will use.
- When does my allowance refill?
- Every week. You pay monthly; unused credits don't roll over.
- What happens when I run out?
- The AI pauses until the allowance refills. Writing doesn't.
- What if I start on Desk and upgrade later?
- Your books sync up from the device you wrote them on. Nothing to export or re-import.
