Terms of Service

Your writing is yours

You own everything you write in PlotSpring, including AI-assisted revisions you accept. We claim no rights over your content beyond what is technically required to store it, sync it and run the features you use. Your writing is never used to train AI models.

What you can write

PlotSpring doesn't police your fiction. You may write anything the First Amendment protects. We will never suspend an account for the content of private manuscripts. The one exception is content the law doesn't protect, such as material that sexually exploits minors; that is prohibited, and we will act on it where the law requires us to.

PlotSpring does not publish what you write. A share link is a private way to send a chapter to people or tools you choose. You decide who receives it, and you're responsible for what you share.

The AI

• AI features send the text they need to third-party AI providers to produce an answer. Those providers don't keep your prose after answering and don't train on it.
• Some providers apply their own content rules, so an AI feature may occasionally decline or soften a passage. That never affects your ability to write or keep that passage.
• AI output is a suggestion. It lands as a new version beside yours and never replaces your words; what you keep is your choice and your responsibility.

Plans and credits

• Desk is free. It stores your books in your browser on the device you use, for up to three books, with no sync and no AI.
• Writer, Author and Novelist are paid monthly subscriptions, billed through Stripe. Each includes sync across devices and a weekly AI allowance.
• The allowance is counted in credits. Credits have no cash value, reset weekly, and don't roll over. When they run out, AI features pause until the next reset; writing is never affected.

Where your books are stored

• On Desk, your books exist only in your browser's storage on that device. We don't hold a copy. Clearing your browser's site data, or the browser removing it, deletes them. Export regularly.
• On a paid plan, your books are stored on your device and synced to your account.
• PlotSpring is designed local-first and keeps every version of every paragraph, precisely so your words survive failures. It is still beta software: keep your own copy of anything irreplaceable.

The service

• PlotSpring is provided as is, without warranty. Features change during the beta.
• We may suspend accounts used to attack the service or other users' data.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to access other users' data, probe or overload the infrastructure, or resell AI access. That's the whole list.

Leaving

You can leave at any time: export your books, erase your devices in the app, and request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. If we ever discontinue the service, you will get at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your manuscripts.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim.
